After watching Curling in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, club founder Eric Vardeman fell in love with the sport and began looking for ways to bring it to the city of Tulsa. In 2012, in partnership with the Oilers Ice Center, the “Tulsa Curling Club” was formed. From small beginnings with borrowed curling stones, old used brooms, and some rings painted on the ice, the club has grown over the years to have hundreds of members compete in various leagues to try to win the coveted championship trophy, known simply as “The Leo”.
Today, along with 4 – 5 yearly competitive leagues, the Tulsa Curling Club hosts periodic Open Houses, seasonal Learn to Curl introductory sessions and beginner Instructional League classes. We have had teams participate in out of town curling bonspiels, and in 2019 the club hosted a special outdoor event at Tulsa Winterfest. What started as a long shot dream with humble beginnings has blossomed and grown into the second largest curling club in Oklahoma. Come join us as we look towards exciting things to come with our club and continue to grow the game in the Tulsa area.
